Computer Motherboard Close-up

Here is the close-up of Socket 7 Computer Motherboard. Placement of various chips and parts may vary from one motherboard to another, so don't get confused. This is just to so the cofiguration of motherboards to help you find the appropriate slots and ports. Below is the brief discription of the various slots shown above.

Keyboard Connector This port is where the keyboard plugs into. This port comes out of the computer case from the back. Sometimes a port wire is used to make it outside the case.
AGP Slot This slot is where you plug in your graphics card. Some motherboards have built-in graphics accelerator and these type of motherboard may not have the AGP Slot.
PCI Slot This slot is used to plug in various other cards such as the TV tuner card and sometimes the sound card.
ISA Slot You don't need to know much about it because we are not going to use it while assembling computer.
BIOS Chip This chip stores various settings and programs to start the computer. No need to know much about it. It comes preprogrammed.
CPU Slot This slot is where the CPU is inserted.
Memory Slot Computer memory is inserted here.
Power Connector(ATX) Here we put the power supply to give power to the motherboard in order to function
